On 17 Witchrite 8672 DE, the Covenant general Lukoon, with his power as a Sentient Creationist, created a people to serve as his own personnel army; one to indoctrinate with his ideas and goals. After the Traga plant native to the world of Muspelheim, they were named the Tragaran.

Lukoon created nearly a thousand Tragaran infants. With no time to spare in raising so many, they were sent to the Covenant crèches at Gamba-Nîr. One group of Tragaran were raised in the upper elevations of Kilth, another in the lowlands north, and a third in the jungles to the south. Taken into the Krotoan Army, they were heavily trained in jungle warfare, practicing in Bopharan and in the coastal jungles of the Kraaroz inlet. In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), in the jungles of Ma'Ohari, they battled the hordes of Graz'zt.

In the Varelay Upheaval (2608 LE - 16 HE), after losing the city of Rolipoon, many Tragarans migrated south into Azrik and southeast into Gulimbor where they would go on to found the Tragaran nations of Borillisk, Burterinii, the Cal-Thaoun Dynasty and the Niratar Theocracy.

Racial as human
Schooled at Gamba-Nîr, Tragarans spent a lot of time in a particular environment. As part of their Creation, an adaptation trait was seeded into them. Gamba-Nîr's task masters did this by design, making them better suited for certain environments. Still able to adapt, but now taking hundreds of years instead of a few, left three Tragaran variants. The Tûrugul were those that lived and trained in the Bopharan Jungle. The Adûni adapted to the highlands of Kilth, and the Punir to the lowlands.
