Gulimbor is east of Azrik and Ma'Ohari. Late in the First Epoch, the terrain and civilizations of this region were devastated by arcane anomalies and the warmongering First Khazarkar Empire. Powerful magicks unleashed during that time by Web Weavers resulted in tears in the Web of Magic. Warmongering by Khazarkar armies laid waste to rivals and ultimately their own. The tears in the Web resulted in the Gulimbor Cataclysm (996 - 1203), crippling the land, ruining harvests, drying up rivers, and upsetting the natural weather patterns of the region. The result was a massive migration called the Great Exodus (998 - 1017). The First Khazarkar Empire and the Rogue States fled the dying region. Some went to the islands of Necrocrypt and others to distant lands on Brucrumus. The Burterinii remained on the continent, move to Ma'Ohari's northeastern coasts.
One of the most wrecked areas of the region is the Broken Lands. The ground of this area is cracked and broken from scant rainfall and centuries of environmental destruction. Where there were once verdant forests and rich farmlands, there are now dust bowels, and deserts with little or no life in them. Numerous ruins dot the landscape of Gulimbor. They are skeletons of past civilizations, a stark reminder of warmongering by the First Khazarkar Empire and a reminder of what can happen when the Web of Magic is severely damaged.
After the departure of civilization from the region, and the passing of many thousands of years, some areas have returned to much of their former beauty. Many spellwarped, aberrations, and other Gulimbor Tainted creatures were created by the Gulimbor Cataclysm. These creatures still roam Gulimbor. Living Spells, dead-magic areas, and other unnatural creatures can also be found here in great numbers.
The Underdark region beneath Gulimbor is called Urizigar.
