The Thrak family have a long tradition of sea-faring, naval enterprises and disreputable early history of pirating. The pirating happened during the early years after the founding of Burterinii. Around the Year 364, they switched from pirating to merchant shipping and building warships for the Burterinii navy.
The Thrak family came into notoriety when Admiral Jeswyn Thrak became a military governor. This happened in the Year 999, at the conclusion of the Conclave War. He ruled the Burterinii from 999 to 1018. During this time the nation was ruled by a militocracy. In 1018, after a bloody civil war, Burterinii rule was taken by the Luru-Zir family.
