Of the Wahliik bloodline, Tiamat began as silver dragon. In the Dawn Era, she fought alongside angels and gods in the Creation War.
In the God Era, Tiamat was a mighty dragon general of the Demon Spawn War. Up until the middle of this war, she was one of the top dragon generals serving under Bahamut. In the final battle of the Hoof Front, Tiamat battled a powerful demon lord. The wounds she suffered in this epic fight were chaos infused. Over the next few weeks, her body became monstrous in size and warped into something akin to a great primordial hydra with dragon heads. The greatest healing spells of Bahaumut could not cure the festering wounds of Tiamat or revert the changes to her body and unknown to him, her mind. Nobody knows why he did not seek aid from much more powerful angels of healing or even the gods. Over the following months Tiamat grew jealous of Bahamut's power and sick of his pride. She abandoned the side of the angels, and turned to building her own force to combat the demons and any angelic forces that got in her way. Nearly two centuries later, Tiamat and Bahaumut faced off in the Aerie of Dragons in the First Dragon Wake (9251 GE - 9269 GE).
When Tiamat was driven from Bal-Kriav, she fled to the Forge Worlds. There she was greeted by Asmodeus. Offered the title - Overlord of Avernus, she declined. She knew that to earn the old battle master's trust, one must earn their keep, prove yourself, so she went to war with Avernus's current governor, taking the title Overlord of Avernus after a ten year war; entirely financed by Asmodeus.
In 1109 HE, with scattered cells across the Aerie of Dragons and other lands, Tiamat became a Cult power.
The spread of Tiamat worship on Bal-Kriav began with the Kriistvrii of the Aerie of Dragons. Beginning around the Horgon Era's 11th century, they had the ultimate goal of replacing the Church of Bahamut with that of Tiamat. Over the next two centuries, these dragon cultists were a thorn in the side of the Zeymah'kein Empire. This threat brought on the Platinum Inquisition (1279 HE - 1290 HE), with Tiamat's followers executed or exiled. Many went east, settling in the icy vale Sotiisk'lum, eventually becoming the evil Kriistvrii empire Galirkrad.
One of the most effective groups to spread the influence of Tiamat is the dragon cult Vith Alok.
Tiamat's descendants, the tainted branch of the Wahliik bloodline, are called the Gral Wahliik.
