In 862 HE, the Helas Vessels entered Bal-Kriav's upper atmosphere. These ancient ships carried the remnants of the Horgon Empire, the survivors of Suellk's hungry mind flayers. On board one of these Helas Vessels was the then mortal Rioch Tetrax. He was one of three Saints of Maen that ruled over the Horgon Empire. Rioch Tetrax's voidship, better known today as the Spire of Rioch Tetrax, landed in the Chen'gom sector of the Brucrumus mainland.
Rioch Tetrax and his minions established a new civilization in an area called Tûnin-Gil. The inhospitable terrain around these alien arrivals resulted in a rather slow population growth. Dromite slaves and a few Durkoth masters remained on the surface to guard the work being done underground. Rioch Tetrax's people fared much better in the Underdark. Their technology, organization, and military might honed from centuries of warfare on their home world overwhelmed most resistance. Gal'palos's kuo-toans, Mîmêk, and other peoples would come to serve Durkoth masters. In less than a century, Rioch Tetrax had a great following of people praying to him as if he were a god. He ruled over these minions from a Lith-Crillion structure called the Pyramid of Alchemy, with most of his subjects living in the Underdark city Nagdúrzol.
On 9 Kindle 1301 HE, the Primordial Splinter, sent Rioch Tetrax's soul energy through the Temple of Ascension, making him a Cult Power. One of the members of the Primordial Splinter was Mephirouth, who at Crulock taught Rioch Tetrax much about disease and pestilence. Upon becoming a Higher Power, Rioch Tetrax took Pestilence as his first Divine Domain.
Rioch Tetrax's influence waned after the Durkoth Descent (995 HE - 1355 HE). In the 1300s, the Borurthane started a revival of Rioch Tetrax worship when they spread his religion into Ningizzida. Since then his influence has spread wide because of the cultists and the clergy of Ningizzida.
One of the more nastier powers of Rioch Tetrax is his decaying touch. This causes things to age 10-100 years, which for a mortal could be death in one blow.
