Made by an Arch-Creationist named Storralk, the Knudmid are sand giants native to the world of Bal-Kriav. In 5805 DE, they went to the Sands of Hell where they served their creator as builders and workers. On the primordial side of the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), the Knudmid were tasked with harvesting Xorn Cysts. Generally a goodly people, they were determined to find an escape from this cruel work. Their chance came in the Morte'lumin War (6115 DE - 8066 DE) while primordial sand worms ran amok, hundreds escaped into the wild. A people designed for deserts, masters at hiding in the sands, most of these escapees were never found.
In the Demon Spawn War (8972 GE - 9493 GE), recruited by Bahamut, they served in the Silt Fist Legion. When not battling the demon hordes of Orcus, the Knudmid built great fortifications like Bruh Gevul and many others for both peace and war. After the war, Eydreid became the Knudmid's first great settlement.
In 106 LE, the Knudmid came into friendly relations with Lith-Crillion camped out near the Pyramid of Anubis. Over the next century, providing high pay, free training in the arcane arts, the Knudmid came to live alongside the Lith-Crillion, and revering one. Some say it was the charisma of Ptah that won their hearts. A Lith-Crillion, Ptah was a Covenant hero, one that still walked among mortals. Over nine centuries, they built stunning monuments and structures for Ptah and the Lith-Crillion. The greatest of these, some say the first temples to Ptah, are the six Pyramids of Power.
Beginning in 1000 LE, the Knudmid suffered great locust plagues and a booming population of primordial sand worms. With the Lith-Crillion, their "gods", unwilling to change nature, the Knudmid began to lose faith.
In 1011 LE, the Knudmid fell victim to the Stone Curse. Rapidly spreading, the magical disease turned most female Knudmid into stone within the year. Only those females in remote areas near Alluvium Deep escaped the curse.
