Web Weaver

Typearcane lore, prestige class

The skill of manipulating the energies of the Web of Magic is called web weaving; practitioners are called Web Weavers. This ways of manipulating the Web's arcane energy was documented by a rogue weave spider named Sarseg. Outside of Sarseg and a few others, Webweaving remained a mystery until the Lith-Crillion Era. Those on the side of the Covenant went to great effort to keep webweaving from ever going mainstream.

In the Maziggandîm Conflict (348 LE - 355 LE), tomes were found in an ancient primordial edifice called Nemexus. The victors of the conflict, the Lith-Crillion, used these tomes in the revival of the lost art of Webweaving.

Webweaving is a dangerous path to follow. It risks an attack by one or more weave spiders, the timeless guardians of the Web of Magic.

The effects of many web weavers working in concert can be devastating. The Gulimbor Cataclysm (996 - 1203) was brought on by Khazarkar web weavers of the Eldritch Conclave.

Tangled Weave is the largest school that teaches the art of web weaving. It is owned and run by agents of the Sanguine Whispers.

Web Sense

This spell-like ability is a minor action. It has an area of effect centered on the web weaver that fans out in a 40' cone. It is like the detect magic spell, but gives a deeper insight into the type of magic and strength.

Web Tap

This spell-like ability is a free action. Each use of this power has a 2% chance of incurring an attack by a weave spider.

The attack of a weave spider is sudden, and appears out of nowhere. The veil between this world and the realm of magic will open, and the hunter appears. It is often a huge spider, the size of an elephant and can move fast. Unless your are an arch-mage, don't bother attacking it with spells or magic, for your chances of penetrating its defense are slim. The weave spider bites with magic draining fangs and can web a large area with burning strands. These are impervious to fire, but weak to cold.

- Ondimion, survivor of the web weaver attack on Emancer's arcane capacitor

Web Boost

This spell-like ability is a minor action. Web Boost weakens the Web of Magic. This produces a spiraling cloud of magic above the caster. The cloud can take the shape of bursting motes, a rainbow of ribbons all intertwined, conjured apparitions of monsters or any number of other random possibilities. The cloud is fixed in position, and covers a 20' radius and floats 15' above the caster. The cloud makes the web weaver's spells much more difficult to resist. This makes all the web weaver's spells have an additional +5 DC. If the web weaver moves away from the cloud then it disappears. Every other round that Web Boost is present, there is a 4% chance of incurring an attack by a weave spider.

Web Rift

This spell-like ability is a minor action. Web Rift opens a rift to the Web of Magic. Tendrils of invisible magic stream from the rift and into the web weaver. This stream of magical energy boost the damage per die of the web weaver's spells and doubles their casting range. Each spell cast using Web Rift incurs a 6% chance of incurring an attack by a weave spider.

The tendrils from the Web Rift are invigorating. After feeling such power course through you, it is easy to see how so many have wanted more and paid the price.

- Negmîn, from a diary found by Crimson Eye in the ruins of Outpost Prime

Create Energy Rift

After finding a weakened area of the Web, a Web Weaver can open an Energy Rift.

Web Spigot

This ability double the number of third and fourth level spells that the web weaver can memorize.

Split Web

The web weaver creates a web rupture that can be used to enter the Web of Magic and then cross-over to another mortal system. The chances of a weave spider arriving to repair the web are 5% cumulative per round after its creation. During the time it is open, all web weavers within a 1000' have their spells maximized (as the Maximize Spell feat) and extended (as Extend Spell feat). This effect is free and does not require using up higher level spell slots to cast them.
