Arcane energy comes from the Web of Magic. It is primarily used in the spells cast by arcanists and what backs the psychic powers of mentalists.
It is also used in the fabrication of magical items. For magical creatures, it is their life essence, akin to life energy for living creatures. Arcane energy uses the body as the vessel to contain it, unlike psychic energy which goes through the mind.
