Established5 War March 49

In the beginnings of the First Epoch, Theegan witches would routinely come to the Isle of Tarelcil, honing their skills in an area where the fabric of the Web is weak; making it easier to cast arcane spells. After conflict with those of ill-intent, looking to stake a claim the island, a group of witches joined together, driving out the evil menace. The witches continued to help each other, building permanent homes and mountain-side chateaus reachable only by teleportation magic or on the wing. On 5 War March 49 in a palatial compound of the clouds, the foundation of the Prism of Merioss, the Arch-Mages of Merioss was established. Their driving objective was to fight evil, second to keep Galathien an open sea, unclaimed by none.

In 1222, Black Wood and a group of Merioss wizards took down the wielders of Blizzard and Firestorm.

This guild was once comprised of two sects of wizards, the White Wizards of Merioss, and the Gray Wizards of Merioss. In the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486), most of the White Wizards of Merioss were slain. One of their greatest displays of magical might was at the Luran Campaign (1481 - 1483). In this battle they killed thousands of undead with fire and lightning. After the loss of so many Whites in the war, the Grays took control, actively more covertly against the widening Black Tide threat.

In 1513 the Arch-Mages of Merioss and the then mortal Aredhel sealed the Abyssal Funnel; a rift to the demon world of Inguvile.

In the Athenian Crusade (1539 - 1551), the White Wizards were back in power, carrying the banner of good to the borders of the Lands of Prity.

The Arch-Mages of Merioss have long made their money from mercenary work to those of good intent, and enchanting work. The guild also lends its magical arts in more mundane tasks, such as magically fortifying the long-standing bridge Gazulud-Gik and of the dredging of Phanax; helping it become a great commercial port.
