In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), expanding outward from the Arioch Cloud, forces under Athroond's best aquatic general, then mortal Blibdoolpoolp, seized a coastal stretch of the Green Nebulous. They built an outpost, raised the banner of Athroond, then rounded up the locals. Some became slaves, others pressed into military service under some demon, others a meal. While this securing the claim was going on, the village of Belogrell, built over and in grottoes honeycombed by the Hair of Sivadex, became a place of revelry, gambling, trade, slave markets, mining camps, forges and farms. The entire area the property of Athroond, a hefty percentage of the commerce was sent to the Chest Trains of Curatoch, then shipped to Arioch, Athroond's home world. The demon garrison at Bamus Morevie kept security, making sorties into the sand reaches to the southeast.
By 150 GE, Belogrell was a great bastion sprawled along the banks of the Sivadex. Hundreds of rope and vine bridges were strung across the city, high enough along the main stretches that ships could pass into the harbors of a growing commercial hub, home to both sentient aquatics like the aboleth and the kuo-toa, a dozen different types of demons, and others scattered across a vast underground expanse that was costly to conquer, fighting the Covenant on the sea, across the subterranean realm and dealing with hostile earth elementals moving through earth and rock as if it were air.
When the Covenant stepped up their attacks on Athroond's interests, Belogrell's navy gained renown on the Green Nebulous, keeping open precarious supply lines and protecting the region's only adamantine mine. More important then than today, the adamantine of this mine was sent back to Athroond's home world where it was sold at very high prices.
In 296 GE, its navy lost to the Green Nebulous, Belogrell fell under a ten year blockade. It was a period of cleansing, double-dealing, and overall turning the populace against Emperor Athroond. By the time their emperor was lost to the Arioch Cloud, Belogrell had been sacked twice by the Covenant and then become a war zone for petty lords.
In 705 HE, the ruin of Belogrell was resettled by drow colonists out of Filion'lyr.
In 855 HE, the settlement of Vhurindrar was founded by Belogrell colonists. In 1600 HE, Vhurindrar declared its independence, starting the Nebulous War.
When the Mir'piamauza Empire fell in 1612 HE, in return for military service, five-thousand Gradorian refugees were given Belogrell citizenship.
In the Tradeway Wars (1131 - 1231), Belogrell fought against the drow city-states of the Chari'they Alliance.
In 1140, allied with the Kal-Oni Empire, attacking from beneath, Belogrell helped in the sacking of Yis-Lorill.
Belogrell has a long-standing mutual defense pact with the Paradomea Syndicate.
