On Bal-Kriav, tens of thousands of Azwyr Amoruk dwell in the region Ice Cap. They are descendants of those that once lived in the Abyss. They are generally a chaotic and utterly evil people. Where they once served the frost giants in what was then called Piranoths Steps, now on Bal-Kriav, may of the clans have frost giants as their minions.

In 1561 DE, a Dulun expeditionary force under Danzar-Khâl ventured into Piranoths Steps. Danzar-Khâl and his Azwyr Amoruk ("Frost Hearts" army) were part of the growing forces of what would eventually become the system spanning alliance Nawirrûs Covenant. Danzar-Khâl and his crack army went to the world Abyssm to investigate reports of a frost giant mobilization. Stepping through an inter-system rift, they entered something far bigger than they could handle, learning only near the end of their journey that they had arrived smack dab in the middle of a force gathering for a world assault.

Their numbers were incredible. In every direction camps, pickets, even underground the giants were preparing for war. We spent two days maneuvering and hiding, can you imagine that, a force of 1,000, hiding like fleas amongst a force of giants and other brutes 100 times that.

- Danzar-Khâl, from the book Abyssm Expedition - "Fall of the Azwyr Amoruk"

Out of Danzar-Khâl's force of nearly a thousand, only several dozen made it out. The rest were captured and enslaved by the frost giants. The slaves were put to work mining and crafting armor and weapons for the Creation War. All but the hardiest perished, and those who survived gradually changed, tainted with abyssal energy that would eventually change all the worlds of Piranoths Steps. In the Abyssal Release (7777 DE - 8777 DE), a war that happened during the Creation War, the frost giants legions overseeing the Azwyr Amoruk were defeated by a demon army under Demogorgon. The Azwyr Amoruk, by now tainted with abyssal energy, more like demons in their thinking than Dulun, took to serving this new master. Long after, they would rebel against Demogorgon while he was in another of his long wars with Orcus. Most escaped to the mortal world Bal-Kriav, yet their are still tens of thousands of them spread across the worlds of the Abyss. Those that came to Bal-Kriav, did so with the aid of Miradalêth's eldritch giants. These giants used tomes recovered from Miradalêth libraries of Lith-Crillion lore, finding a way of opening a inter-system rift. On Bal-Kriav, the Azwyr Amoruk did not get the liberty they were promised. The Saer Erkjorg kept the Azwyr Amoruk in check for hundreds of years. When this empire began to falter, the Azwyr Amoruk rebelled, greatly hastening its downfall. The chaotic and wicked nature of the dwarves could no longer be contained leading to a series of civil wars which tore apart the empire and left the holdings of Saer Erkjorg in ruins.

The Azwyr Amoruk are a cursed people. This curse is unbreakable, placed on them by the abyssal lord Demogorgon. When a Azwyr Amoruk king, chieftain, or jarl dies, he turns into a ghost and hunts his former subjects. As a result of this curse, the Azwyr Amoruk built a vast crypt beneath Khalas. The crypt is enormous in size, maze-like, and continues to grow with each passing king. The haunted place is called Arakkhalgam.

Many Azwyr Amoruk of Ice Cap are part of a loose confederation called Gamakkhazar.
