Hurgs Scar is a vale flanked to the east by the icy Inzurakthol highlands and west by the dragon burial grounds of Laat Viing and Viing Qeth. From the south, near Froglem, the area is one of fjords and terraced wetlands on the west. Going north, Hurgs Scar becomes an upland vale flanked by cliffs and mountains. The ground is rocky, thick with vegetation and cut with streams and an artery river.
During Amaglothorns Breath (791 - 841), the eastern vales and highlands froze, drying up the waterways. In Hurgs Scar, this exposed ancient ruins and secret underwater entrances to a vast complex. Built in the Dawn Era, it is one of a dozen places built regardless of time and money, constrained only by labor, by an eccentric named Maen. A primordial more interested in his studies than the ongoing Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), the area of Hurgs Scar was one of Maen's retreats that by accident or design, became the heart of a Bullywug civilization.
By the Year 900, the area's water levels had returned. With little thanks given, it was an effort managed by a group of bullywug druids and their mischievous fey helpers. Followers of Silvanus, outcasts until help is needed, they worked to fix the water flow and bring about a re-balancing. While they worked to reshape the land, everything downstream to the coasts went into survival mode. Cannibilism became the norm. Said to have come from above, the order was "New Slate". Grown gluttonous and out of balance, the Bullywug of Froglem and the vale, the druid's people, would need be brought back to equilibrium with the land.
