The Githyanki and Githzerai were the first peoples to bring true civilization to this world. A rapidly increasing population in the Lith-Crillion Era and into the Horgon Era, great wars kept their numbers in check. After their last great war, the Impar'lex War, they were in such a weakened state that they fell victim to an outside invader, the illithid empire of Ghífthauk's moon Ráglauth. This conflict, the First Suellk Invasion (135 HE - 150 HE) led to fourteen centuries of githyanki and githzerai servitude under the Suellk Empire.
In the Incarsabec Rebellion (1531 HE - 1544 HE), rebels poisoned the landscape and reduced most of the settlements to ruins as psychic storms took a terrible toll on the Suellk and nearly any other thinking creature.
Today, Ghífthauk is a world with very few intelligent lifeforms. Only those that managed to hide and wait for the psychic viruses to burn themselves, survived. With a hive mind physiology, credited with saving them from the psychic burn, the Dromites thrived.
