The 222nd Battalion, better known as the Vek Viing, was a military unit that served under Bahamut in the First Dragon Wake (9251 GE - 9269 GE). It was a special operations unit employed to undertake secretive missions behind enemy lines. They were brutal in their methods. Bahamut, an independent general allied with the Covenant, said the 222nd Battalion were very effective, their measures though are more to the liking of Asmodeus than the others.
After the victory over Tiamat and the winning of the Demon Spawn War (8972 GE - 9493 GE), the Vek Viing settled in the northwestern tracts of Tu Naar. The Kriistvrii with bloodlines to those that once fought in the 222nd Battalion are collectively referred to as the Vex Viing. For the most part, they are a wicked lot, more interested in war and mercenary work than settling down with civilization.
In the Horgon Era, they were shunned by Lumnaar Hok and most holds of the Aerie. It is for this reason, they joined up with the Dominon of Resalth. They quenched their thirst for war, and helped put Lumnaar Hok in its place in 899 HE.
