Lances of Merioss

Formed in the reign of the Farinteens (1017 - 1486), the Lances of Merioss was a military pact between five military orders of the Lands of Purity. The fortress of Holy Sanctum served as a command center for coordinating the efforts of defending the empire's frontier.

In 1260, the Lances of Merioss joined the Gwaeldior Alliance in the Kal-Oni War (1260 - 1266). In 1267, the last remnant of Kal-Oni's troubles was ended at the Battle of Mynzuth.

In the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486), the Lances of Merioss were part of the Farinteen Alliance. In 1483, with Holy Sanctum besieged and many top leaders lost, or worse, raised as undead under the banner of the Black Tide, the Lances of Merioss splintered. The military orders pulled back to the their bases, protecting the evacuation of the populace, and changing tactics for a long guerrilla war.
