Once sited on the isle of Angvild, the primordial city of Frilksif was built in the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE). Today a stunningly beautiful city, held aloft by the Last Hand of Talos, it began as a mere worker's for archons and giants tasked with carving away part of the island around them. Under the oversight of Talos, Geb, and others, working on a monumental effort with chiefs coming and going, the excavation became a bureaucratic mess with labor resources stripped for more pressing concerns.
In 8776 DE, with the Covenant winning on all fronts, the isle of Angvild was finally sundered. The separated section, the so-called Last Hand of Talos, or Krarkauk by the learned, was cast on the winds by Talos. The settlement of Frilksif, then a nearly two-century old town of 12,000, and seated at the heart of Krarkauk, floated on the winds for seven centuries. During this time, it became the heart of an empire, then a ruin of only a few hundred. It rebounded around 400 LE with newcomers resettling Krarkauk's verdant landscape and rebuilding Frilksif's abandoned areas.
In 712 LE, for reasons still unknown, the isle of Krarkauk came to a stop in the Ice Cap region. In a frigid part of the world, crops failed and the population dropped. Over the next century, an influx of natives and local fauna started a recovery. As a result of growing commerce with the land below, great spans to the slopes of Netheram were added, and more lifts were added. Many of these lifts with great cables and sturdy platforms, holding the weight of ten giants, descend down through the city to others lifts and security points, cutting through the isle of Krarkauk then to open air. The last leg of the journey is descending a thousand feet or more into Krarkauk's gloomy underside, the Vale of Gunmar.
In 388 HE, desiring Krarkauk's military potential and Frilksif's rich economy, laws, and business structures, the area was peacefully annexed, becoming a vassal state of Aslauthroa (9 HE - 1891 HE).
