Map | Gúrzogoth Swamp |
Gúrzogoth is a large swamp northeast of the Carodrak Mountains. Before the re-routing of the Edyznn River, this wetland stretched all the way south to the coasts. Finished in 912, the re-routing pushed the river's course twenty miles east of Marmarath. After a couple centuries, this had the effect of drying up the southern half of the swamp.
Gúrzogoth has long been home to the descendants of the vampire lords that once held sway over Drachlaz. Most of these vampires are the same race as those that live in this dismal wetland, Bullywug and Vedrii. For the most party, then are secretive blood-suckers, even looked highly upon in some tribes. The Bullywug and Vedrii claim to have lived in this area since the Demon Spawn War (8972 GE - 9493 GE). Most claim to have ancestors that served under the demon lord Graz'zt in his offensive to be become master of Ma'Ohari then the continent around it. There are shrines in the area to various demon lords, some long dead. Perhaps fearing the return of Varelay, many still give token prayers to them.
During the time of the Torgilm Confederacy (1475 - 1719), the tribes of this area normally sided with the Confederacy over the Ba'lith Empire.
