The Gebs Foothills is known for its gemstones and rich veins of mithril. On 2 Artifice 1821 HE, the Sigatharkin staked claim to the area. They named the settlement Nurum-Maluk; after the two brothers that discovered the area's gem and mithril deposits.
In 770, defeated by the Âkhi Empire, Nurum-Maluk became a vassal state.
In 923, bolstered by the refugees of Sigatharkin, Nurum-Maluk declared itself a free state. On 5 War March 931, with an ongoing war with the Âkhi, the Zandûl-Khâl Monarchy was established under Queen Zandûl. Nurum-Maluk became the capital.
