Styming was formed during the Varelay Upheaval (2608 LE - 16 HE). In this period of the Lith-Crillion Era, the land was rocked by violent volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. At the time the area of Styming was a marshy area with many ponds and rivulets. One really bad earthquake created a huge trench that slowly filled with water. The fire giants of Cerbere named this new lake Styming. The lake bottom is pockmarked with the sunken ruins of the Tilnangau.
