The moon Deaths Kindle produces two necromantic events with its appearance in the skies of Bal-Kriav. The more frequent of these two events is a period called the Shade of Darkness. In the first year of each new decade, the moon Deaths Kindle emits a powerful aura for 150 days. For those on the world of Bal-Kriav, it is a time of darkness and evil, with necromancy and undead activity at its peak. Necromantic spells are stronger (DC bonus +4) and undead creation, such as animate dead function at four levels greater than normal, and all undead have a turning resistance of +2.
