The Flayer Occupation was a 1400 year period when the githyanki and githzerai were slaves to the illithid empire Suellk. It began at the end of the First Suellk Invasion (135 HE - 150 HE) when the illithid had completed their subjugation of Ghífthauk. The Flayer Occupation ended with the Incarsabec Rebellion (1531 HE - 1544 HE) when the slaves of Ghífthauk and those on her two moons rose up in defiance. The rebellion led to the freedom of the githyanki and githzerai (either from death or escape). The Suellk empire suffered terribly from this civil war and would not pose a threat to other worlds and peoples for a long time after.
