Zirâg-Tharam is an Underdark area beneath the Carodraks. The area is the largest natural concentration of iron ore on Bal-Kriav.
Aerial craft passing over these mountains have seen their compasses spin mad from the magnetic resonance of the vast iron deposits.

A number of groups on both the surface and beneath have laid claim to this area. For centuries, the Torgilm Confederacy (1475 - 1719) battled the claims of those in the Underdark empires Vîlnên and Taklumlode.
After the Brothers Enmity War (1697 - 1723), the matter of claims was settled, with Ba'lith getting half and Taklumlode the other, many claims became just two.
