In the northeastern corner of the Lands of Purity is Hlophar-Maur. The Lances of Merioss and the Black Tide fought heavily in this area during the Black Tide War (1465 - 1504).
The battles for Hlophar-Maur lasted a year and took the lives of tens of thousands of creatures. The bones of the fallen are just beneath the surface, so it is common to see a skull or bone jutting from the surface when traveling this area. During heavy downpours, the plains of Hlophar-Maur are said to run red from the blood of the thousands that perished here long ago. There are also stories told of travelers being aided by benign spirits in this area. Stories of attacking trolls and other marauders being fought off by ghostly knights are a common tale in many taverns across the Lands of Purity.
