In the Creation War, forces under the primordial lord Hettar dug deep into the valley floor. They mined gold in every-deepening mining pits and pockmarked the surrounding hills. When Hettar was defeated the area was left unmaintained for many centuries. This led to the failure of embankments and measures to keep water out of the mining pits, resulting in small lakes and ponds. These areas are collectively called Hettars Spittoons.
