Ilagandam was founded by Urbal Nabad colonists. It was a surface retreat for Urbal Nabad's citizens wanting to escape the darkness of Aerruxa, to open trade with those on the surface.
By the fifth century of the Lith-Crillion Era, Ilagandam and Urbal Nabad were commercial rivals. Many in Ilagandam saw Urbal Nabad as the "dirty underbelly". The crime, corruption, and gangs operating out of innumerable abandoned mines beneath, seemed to seep up to the surface.
