The kenku were conceived in the Abyssal Release (7777 DE - 8777 DE). In this conflict, demons of Piranoths Steps fought to throw off the yoke of their primordial masters. Like the demons corrupted by the Threads of Damnation, the kenku were tainted in their eggs. Upon hatching, they took up service with their primordial mother. This mother was Mastyxe, one also corrupted and changed by the abyssal energies surging across Piranoth's worlds. Some kenku got out of Piranoths Steps, escaping to the Mortal Systems, ending up on worlds like Bal-Kriav. The kenku that remained behind were eventually wiped out by the demons.
Across most worlds, total kenku population is low. This is a product of poor reproduction, their tainted origins, and their society. Generally evil, they see others of their kind as potential competitors; yet enough of them have the sense to keep their race from disappearing.
