Known to the region's giant-kind as Hatyr Geir, this hilly area is comprised of granite and red crystal hills, dotted with mining tunnels, the ruins of old mining towns, and newer ones bristling with cannons. The hard crystal of the area, with its rich crimson color, became an important resource in the reign of Aslauthroa (9 HE - 1891 HE). It decorated the great halls of Griddrir, lined the floor of the Moonstone Throne, and crowned the halls of the Storm Dukes.

After the fall of Aslauthroa, the area was fought over, then abandoned for lack of magic and labor needed to extract Hatyr Geir's much prized crystal; what the diggers called Aslauthroan Coin.

In the Second Epoch, the Khazarkar Empire pushed west across Cinazan on a vast land grab, from "sea to sea". While building Barun-Mitân, and beating back the natives, the old mines and giant-build citadels of Aslauthroa were slowly brought under some security. Today, the Aslauthroan Coin of Hatyr Geir is sent east to be used in the decorating of temples, new monuments, and archways to the homes of the wealthy.

Attracted to the area's crystal, intoxicating to their senses, Hatyr Geir is home to many Xorn. Hard to deal with, they have been a problem for miners since the days of Aslauthroa.
