The Abyssal Hegemony were the forces of the Abyss that opposed the Quara'tun Covenant in the Demon Spawn War (8972 GE - 9493 GE). The leadership was in no way organized on a hierarchy like its opposition. It was instead one of chaos with individual commands that worked in the interest of some demon and only allied with another if it served their self-interest; and woe to the "ally" if at the end of the battle they were badly beaten, for they would most likely fall victim to the superior might of their former ally.
Oft considered the brains of the Abyssal Hegemony, speaking of what became known as the Demon Spawn War, Graz'zt once said "we have to be fast about this, no taking your time like the primordials did in their Creation War."
Forces under the war's demon lords were so great in numbers that the loss of entire armies was often of no great concern. The general view was that they were expendable, there were over six hundred worlds to pull from, there was alway more to feed their war machines.
