In the Battle of Burakkhelig, Grongak's defenders were pressed by thousands of Earthen under Rilirthad banners. In a desperate attempt to stave off doom, the defenders destroyed the artifact Grongak's Pick. The resulting explosion killed many on both sides. When the dust settled, the opposing armies looked across a chasm that stretched far off into the distance.
The area came to be called Delvarhaast, Dwarven for Pick Gash. It stretches ten miles east to west, and is 100' to 400' across. It descends roughly 140' with walls still blackened from the magical explosion.
