On each ship of the Armada of the Damned there were the "Masters", undead with mastery in some naval enterprise like sailing or cannonry and said to be unmatched in a particular weapon, scimitar and even the famed gaff hook of Tog, an undead scrag that yanked enemy sailors from opposing decks with frightening skill.
Admiral Bloodtusk to many, Jairall to his friends, said the Masters were the collective skills of those that had the role before, passed on to the next. Roughly 15% of the general fleet are these Masters, with the flagship Godheads Revenge crewed entirely by Masters. When the Armada of the Damned was under Bloodtusk, crews were shifted around making some ships very task oriented, quick and evasive for raiding, or sniper ships outfitted with expensive scopes and specialized cannons, and master sailors for reconnaissance roles in the Buccaneer Archipelago, and those good at close-quarters, for crewing the Armada's grappling ships.
