Lacaran is a swamp on the eastern edges of the Cimgen forest. From the north and south, it is fed by streams and waterfalls cascading down the Elephant Backbone.
Lacaran is a hot and foul-smelling place. Near the heart of this wetland, geothermal activity bubbles up from the bottom. Black dragons, hydra, dire crocodiles, will-o-wisps, and large numbers of yuan-ti dwell here. The yuan-ti are descendants of those that fled here with the fall of Mizhint.
