Psi-Core are crystalline containers containing the remnants of a Psychic Storm. Just after one of these storms burns out for lack of fuel, mental energy, it is collected in a special container which is later transferred to a more durable vessel. In the Astral Sea these containers can be used to accelerate the movement of medium-sized ships like astral skiffs.
The pilot guiding the movements of ship with a Psi-Core engine, has a very risk job. If not careful, the pilot can be completely drained by the engine he is mentally guiding. This psychic burn, just like a ravaging psychic storm, put them in a near-vegetable state.
