Vynnendar was founded in 371 HE by colonists out of Mulun-Dûna. They built it in an Underdark area with many natural shafts rising up into the bowels of the Giant Steps.
In 303, Vynnendar colonists founded the settlement Bolip-Stalacite.
In the Blood Offensive, Vynnendar allied with their on and off enemies, the Orchish Empire, against the Bloodbeards (c.f. Umahanbad).

Most of the city's Turkûn population are descendants of the Gimhak empire. When they were defeated by the Orchish Empire, they fled their mountain redoubts into the Underdark, joining welcoming cities like Vynnendar. It is during this time when these refugees wanted to continue the fight, and thus bring war to Vynnendar, that military alchemists invented a drug called The Keeper. The purpose of it was to mellow out the Gimhak refugees who refused to admit defeat.
