Khatúlg was founded in the First Epoch by Toomrur soldiers serving under an Ogre Lord named Jidekai. Khatúlg became a powerful city-state of eastern Grashakh over the next millennia. The ogres frequently warred with the Gorkith hobgoblins. In the early part of the Second Epoch, they had rid Gorkith of hobgoblins. The hobgoblins fled west where they settled along the Dargirth and established Korbortun. For centuries, the Toomrur and hobgoblins warred with each other over the Turak highlands.

When the Toomrur Hegemony was established, Khatúlg became one of its holdings. Khatúlg was also one of the belligerents in the First Ogre War with their western rival the Orchish Empire.

In 1834, as part of the Lich Front, Khatúlg was captured. It became a holding of the Tormoran Federation.
