In the Horgon Era, Straiden's southwestern corner was ripped asunder by the remnants of a shattered moon. This left a shallow sea area called the Râpha-Nâr and continental remnants, now islands. Scattered about all about this were pieces of the World Splitter, a device that broke a moon, and created the Dûlan-Nûl Firestorm. A century later, these Dûlan fragments became a desired metal for fashioning items impervious to corrosion. By the First Epoch, Râpha-Nâr's shallows had become great reefs, bountiful fisheries. Tritons were soon joined by Elderaunts who lived by fishing. They built shanty towns, offering passing ships, few then, provisions and comfort. Interest in the area's alien metal Dûlan picked up with the rise of Ivory Asylum and Ba'lith.
