Ulgošân is an ancient hold of the Sands of Hell. It is a major trading post and refuge for those crossing east and west. The town is predominately populated by disenfranchised Toomrur (formerly of the Toomrur Hegemony), jann and its oldest inhabitants - sand giants known as the Dezellâm. These giants are descendants of those that escaped the Stone Curse which nearly wiped them out.
Ulgošân is a formidable fortress-town that dates to the time of the Lith-Crillion. It was built by the Lith-Crillion as a center for spreading their influence over the natives of Gunaegail. The people that proved of most use to them in the inhospitable desert around them, were the sand giants. The Lith-Crillion called them the Dezellâm, which as a term still applies to all of the sand giants living in the Sands of Hell. The Lith-Crillion employed the Dezellâm in building more holds for them of even greater size and strength across not only the Sands of Hell but other areas of the realm.
Beneath the central keep is a vast underground cistern that taps into a magical conduit of freshwater from some other area on Bal-Kriav.
