This mineral can be found in abundance at Hlothram. The obsidian from this area is called Hlothram Obsidian. The vast quantity of Hlothram Obsidian has made it cheap to buy. The only real cost is the transport of it to places where it is used in buildings.
Obsidian has no significant value on Bal-Kriav. Paradomea's merchants and other enterprises of Hells Womb have flooded the markets with this gemstone. Due to its abundance, the stone is widely used for decoration and in the creation of structures - the Palace of Nine being the largest obsidian building.
