Vistlod is an active volcano of the central Agulbandal. It and Trylming make-up the Daughters of Surtur. Vistlod is a towering mass peaking out at 22,000'. It continuously belches smoke. Vistlod can be forced, or encouraged, to erupt by the Church of Surtur based out of Surticon. The fire giants of this empire, having honeycombed the volcano with passages and living areas, and installed great doors that can be used to build-up pressure in the volcano resulting in an eventual eruption.

Given enough time, usually a couple centuries, gold, and will, fire giants can cause an active volcano to be even more active. They do this by building a network of tubes, narrowing the natural lava tubes, and other measures which put a stopper on the flow, building up pressure inside and possibly leading to an eruption. These "controlled" eruptions are done only out of necessity, because they are often unpredictable with the outcome sometimes not worth the gain.

Vistlod descends deep into the Underdark where it meets the magma river Annbild Hrolmir. This lava flow is the source of magma that comes out of Vistlod and the other volcanoes of the surrounding wasteland. On the surface, Vistlod has a smaller lava river that spills out of its western flank. This lava flow is the Gruthvef. It continues all the way to Alreirsoar and then empties into the lava lake Jorgeir.
