Built by the great mining clans of Thadir, Gulud-Turam began as a fort, protecting a mine producing a steady flow of rubies and quartz. Much of this early quartz was sold to buyers representing Gulfrek Hjard; with it ending up in the floors and walls of great halls and those chambers reserved for the wealthy.
By the Horgon Era, Gulud-Turam had transformed, becoming an independent city-state of nearly 30,000 souls. They were close allies of Thadir and the other great mining-holds of the Khage. Of all these places, the Gulud-Turam were considered more goodly and peaceful in their ways, remaining neutral in the Burn Wars and the other great conflicts of the Horgon Era.
In the Smoldering Anvil War (1032 - 1039), Gulud-Turam was captured by the Zomaar Yelvaad. Most of the population survived, escaping into subterranean passages and past great bulwarks, taking up residence in some other Thadir Mining State like Stalag.
