Gelok Himdah is Draconic for Lifted Land. It got this name in the God Era, when the landscape of Lok Gevild was torn asunder and then lifted up through use of an ancient primordial relic. This happened in the First Dragon Wake (9251 GE - 9269 GE) when armies of Tiamat battled those of Bahamut. To counter the larger flying army of her foe, Tiamat used a rod given to her by TarĂ¢k to raise numerous chunks of earth and rock into the sky. These masses of debris became imbued with the same elemental energy that gives lift to some earth motes. On these islands in the sky, Tiamat's army built a network of fortifications and defenses. Tiamat raised so much debris into the air that it was nearly impossible to make orderly attacks against those defending Lok Gevild.
The area of Gelok Himdah is still broken from the time when it was the last great battlefield between Tiamat and Bahamut. The fortifications of that time are mostly overgrown ruins. Some of the sky islands serve as the lairs of chimera, dragons, rocs, and other flying predators. The land below is dotted with holes and craters, both small and massive. Some of these are ponds and lakes, and others go deep, giving way to the Underdark.
