Forgeheim was constructed in the God Era by soldiers serving in the Granite Helm Army under General Nûl. A unit of the Quara'tun Covenant, it comprised stone giants and Turkûn under the overall command of Naraz-Nâru. They built this mountain bastion across one of the wider and smoother passes cutting north to south through Khizunul. When the Demon Spawn War ended, several dozen giants remained here as wards of a nearly impregnable place that in the war saw wave after wave of demons throw themselves against its grayish black walls. Walls that are heavily warded and lined with seams of lead and other materials to prevent bypassing them by way of passwall spells, etherealness or those designed to be destructive against earth and stone.

The heaps of demon corpses was such that they became ramps to our bow slits, which even though suffering withering fire, the mass of demons sometimes broke through. Bloody melee would then ensue for hours inside Forgeheim with the floor becoming so slick and packed with the dead that you had to crawl across them to meet your foe.

In the Lith-Crillion Era, the place was assailed by eldritch giant marauders serving Saer Erkjorg. This group out of Dafrlami, came up the Nulag river and then overland seeking relics of the Demon Spawn War. They used magic to gain entry and then charming and confusion magic to wreck havoc on the stone giant defenders. The eldritch giants were defeated in the crypts when rather see the place defiled, stone giant shamans raised the dead. This undead force of skeletons was so large that it did what the demons used to do when attacking Foreheim - overwhelm the enemy by sheer numbers. It is said that Naraz-Nâru took offense to the raising of ancient heroes to fight a battle as undead, which befouled and desecrated the crypts. His shamans soon lost all priestly contact with them. In 1677 LE, the stone giants abandoned Foreheim to its skeleton sentinels.

In 214, Forgeheim was taken by a Turkûn mercenaries out of Phlehorn. They were so enthralled with the construction of the place, its forgotten temple to Naraz-Nâru, and thousands of suits of ancient armor and weapons that they decided to make it there home. They restored the place and even took on stone giants who had long since forgotten the history of the place. When Hjalmarbrodd came to power, it was learned that the Burazdan were the ones who hired the mercenaries to go into Khizunul and clear out a few goblin enclaves. The mercs were also tasked with prospecting for mines in an area that at the time was licensed to another Phlehorn clan.

Under Hjalmarbrodd, the place was joined with four nearby pinnacles of rock by way of the Arakgandal spans. These bridges lead to two iron, one blutium, and several gemstone mines. All of these mines are high up, unreachable from the ground. The location of the fortress across an important trade route and its rich mines means it is strong guarded. Forgeheim has a crack garrison of stone giants and Turkûn with and auxiliary forces consisting of giant mountain goats, giant eagles, griffons, and a gold dragon. This dragon is usually of young to adult age, serving for a period of twenty years. In addition to helping guard the place, these gold dragons began their divine calling, becoming priests of Naraz-Nâru.
