Gorag'theg came to power in the Abyssal Release (7777 DE - 8777 DE). He began his career as leader of a demon mercenary company formed to act as spies among their own kind. In the earliest stages of this war between the primordials and the demons, Gorag'theg mercenaries helped the primordials, but then in a self-serving interest turned to helping just the demons as primordial dominance waned. The mercenary outfit was changed such that it became a light infantry unit specialized in infiltration and lighting fast attacks. Gorag'theg was a practiced mage at the time. His wizardly talent increased greatly during the war. When he made contracts with party's needing his service, he made sure that part of the payment was made in arcane scrolls, spell books, and other items of wizardly purpose.
At the start of the Abyssal Release, Gorag'theg was a vrock. By war's end, he had advanced to being a myrmyxicus. When he took the world Kurun'Ush, assassinating its former lord, he claimed the power of that which he killed, taking the mantle Demon Lord.
On 5 Witchrite 8978 GE, he created the Sôvuk Sea Gate, joining the Demon Spawn War. Gorag'theg led an aquatic army against the mortal world Bal-Kriav. The Sôvuk Sea Gate was a sustained rift linking Kurun'Ush to a tunnel under the Bal-Kriav island Torvild. His army plagued the Sea of Mourning between Brucrumus and Karertus all the way to Torvild. They battled the Covenant and the mostly land-bound ones of a rival demon lord named Orcus then staking claim to all of the Aerie of Dragons.
