The elderaunts relish the skill of gladiator combat. Gladiators are looked upon with great respect and admiration by many elderaunts of Ivory Asylum. The other races have mixed views on it; the human nobility may see it as barbaric, while the giff adore it for the rowdiness of the crowd and heavy drink.
This school has competed with the top gladiator schools in Paradomea City for hundreds of years. Though they may be bitter rivals, it is not uncommon to find cadres of foreign students "Paradomea-sponsored" enrolled in Hlothran. They are bitter rivals, but willingly train each other's students to promote competition.
