The Grey-Nil serve as Black Tide's secret police. They gather information on dissendents, watching for troublemakers. On conquering foreign lands, they hunt down and imprison or kill leaders, priests, royalty, and other potential targets that may prove a threat to control of the population.
Perhaps their most dastardly deed happened in the Black Tide War (1465 - 1504) when they liquidated all members of the Farinteen family, ending five centuries of hereditary rule over the Farinteen Empire.
