When Malad-Mîn fell, her people split into two groups. One group went to the subterranean hold of Nûl-Bazân, the other west into the icy vales of Khalas. Those of the latter became known as the Brisingr. For nearly five centuries, they had a government along the lines of their fore-bearers (c.f. Khazir-Mizir). In the Year 503, they adopted a federalist government. It represents the racial groups of the nation along with the interests of Brisingr's territorial governments.
Brisingr has good trade relations with Icyke and the Deep Six. The empire's common threats are Frost Giant tribes, the Gamakkhazar, and the region's numerous Goliath tribes.
