Shriek signals for them to split up. They've been trained to keep in contact by their own unique chirps while flying. When one can no longer hear two chirps, they make for the nearest previous chirp and re-align their position. Shriek knows the danger of this communication, in that it may give away their position to anything lurking out here; yet any enemy out here is going to face the same problem of visibility.
